Determination of Pb(II) and Cu(II) in microemulsified biodiesel using boron-doped diamond electrode

Abstract This study describes an electrochemical alternative to quantify metals in biodiesel, since this matrix present a complex structure. This methodology use Square Wave Anodic Stripping Voltammetry (SWASV) associated with an unmodified boron-doped diamond (BDD) electrode to determine Pb(II) and Cu(II) in microemulsified biodiesel. The procedure was applied in samples of biodiesel from corn oil, allowing finding a LOD of 2.70 × 10−8 and 4.00 × 10−9 mol L−1 for Pb(II) and Cu(II), respectively, with satisfactory recovery values (95.8 to 118.1%) which are comparable with other convetional analysis described in the literature.
