Vascular access to tumour tissue limits oxygenation, but also availability to nutrition and penetration of drugs. The development of an increased interstitial fluid pressure in the tumour may obstruct the perfusion capacity of the fragile capillaries, thereby preventing the antitumoral drugs from reaching the target. The haphazard vascular network in tumours seems to become gradually better organized following antiangiogenic treatments, but, new approaches for a facilitated drug transport into the tumour tissue should be investigated.
