Contrary to the assertion by Indigo Daya and colleagues that my commentary “…dismiss[es] the concerns of patients, advocates, and clinicians…”, it might provide the reader with a more balanced perspective. My actions in various leadership roles (along with many other psychiatrists internationally) have been clearly based on broad community consultation. Unashamedly, those actions have prioritised the concerns of individuals with lived experience, promoted access to evidence-based medical and psychological therapies, and encouraged serious investment in biomedical, psychological, and psychosocial research and service development.
