Pregnancy and rates of Crohn’s . . . and other stories

An analysis of data from a Norwegian patient register finds that pregnancy leads to a reduction in the risk of Crohn’s disease. Among women whose youngest child was 0-4 years old, rates of diagnosis of Crohn’s disease were roughly a third lower than those in women of a similar age without children (Am J Epidemiol doi:10.1093/aje/kwz285). There was no reduction in the occurrence of Crohn’s disease among fathers.
