Phylogenetic and Recombination Analyses of Sugarcane yellow leaf virus isolates

Sugarcane yellow leaf virus (SCYLV) of Polerovirus genus (family: Luteoviridae) causes one of the most widespread yellow leaf disease in sugarcane. In this manuscript, we have analysed the phylogenetic and recombinant events in the genome sequence of SCYL strains available in GenBank. The data remarkably change (especially recombination events) from regional viral sequences to global sequence. We have taken a previously characterized complete genomic sequence of SCYLV (AY236971) as reference. The study highlights the current scenario of evolution and emphasizes the importance of RNA sequences contributing in making the recombinant SCYLV.
