The precipitation control of grain boundary M23C6 phases and the ductility improvement in aged 22Cr-25Ni-WCuNbN austenitic stainless steel by Co addition

Abstract Addition of 5 wt% Co to 22Cr-25Ni-WCuNbN austenitic stainless steel resulted in a precipitation inhibition of M23C6 phases along the grain boundary and a large fraction of high angle grain boundaries after aging treatment. Co-added steels showed better ductility than the alloys without Co addition, due to the control of grain boundary M23C6 phases.
