Serpe, and co‐workers document stimuli‐responsive polymer‐based actuators that can deform in response to temperature, pH, light, and electric field (among others) stimulation. These “smart” actuators have shown numerous applications in fields as diverse as grippers, artificial muscles, sensors, and biomedicine.
