Simple one-step synthesis of coil-like cobalt zirconium phosphate microspheres and the application as photocatalyts

Abstract Novel coil-like cobalt zirconium phosphate microspheres (m-CZPs) were successfully synthesized by a simple one-step and energy-saving method via the microwave-assisted heating. The results showed that the coil-like three-dimensional microstructure of m-CZPs may be caused by the bonding mode of metal ions (cobalt and zirconium) and phosphates. The UV–vis DRS showed that the semiconductors m-CZPs can absorb the light under 300 nm, so the m-CZPs were used as UV-light driven photocatalysts to degrade the methyl blue (MB) under UV light irradiation. The larger SBET and VP were beneficial to the photocatalytic process, thus lead to higher degradation efficiencies of m-CZP60. Moreover, the stability and reusability of m-CZPs were also measured.
