This special issue of JMPEE is formed with five selected papers from the 13th International Conference on Microwave and RF heating – AMPERE 2011 – that was held in Toulouse, France, during September 5-8, 2011. The conference was sponsored by the Association for Microwave Power in Europe for Research and Education (AMPERE), the French Microwave Theory and Techniques (MTT) chapter of IEEE and the SEE (Société de l’Electricité, de l’Electronique et des Technologies de l’Information et de la Communication), AMPERE 2011 has attracted over 160 participants from more than twenty countries all around the world, showing the increasing interest of the Microwave and RF Power community.
