Steven E. Hyman holds a BA from Yale University, a BA and MA from the University of Cambridge, and an MD from Harvard Medical School, where he became Professor of Psychiatry in 1998. He served as Director of the US National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) from 1996 to 2001 and Provost of Harvard University from 2001 to 2011. He is currently Harvard University Distinguished Service Professor, Professor of Stem Cell and Regenerative Biology, and Scholar in Residence at the Broad Institute of Harvard and MIT.
