Nomenclature for factors of the HLA system, update October, November, and December 2018

The following sequences have been submitted to the Nomenclature Committee since the September 2018 nomenclature update Marsh (2018) and, following agreed policy, have been assigned official allele designations (Marsh et al., 2010). Full details of all sequences will be published in a forthcoming report. Below are listed the newly assigned sequences (Table 1) and con‐ firmations of previously reported sequences (Table 2). The accession number of each sequence is given, and these can be used to retrieve the sequence files from the EMBL, GenBank or DDBJ data librar‐ ies. Although accession numbers have been assigned by the data libraries and most sequences are already available, there is still the possibility that an author may not yet have allowed the sequence to be released; in such a case, you will have to contact the submitting author directly. Additional information pertaining to new sequences is often included in the publications describing these alleles; a listing of recent publications that describe new HLA sequences is given in Table 3. An additional 664 (Lazaro et al., 2018) and 152 (Voorter et al., 2018) alleles were recently published but have not been included in Table 3 due to space considerations. In addition, after reviewing the recombination event which forms the alleles C*03:99:01 and C*03:99:02, they have been shown to belong to the C*01 allele group and have therefore been renamed as C*01:169:01 and C*01:169:02, respectively. C*04:01:01:30 has been shown to be identical to C*04:01:01:27. DQB1*03:325 was named in error and was shown to be a silent variant of DQB1*03:317; as a result, it has been re‐ named as DQB1*03:317:02. DPB1*793:01N was named in error and was shown to be a silent variant of DPB1*786:01N; as a result, it has been renamed as DPB1*786:01:02N. The names C*03:99:01, C*03:99:02, C*04:01:01:30, DQB1*03:325 and DPB1*793:01N have been abandoned. All new and confirmatory sequences should now be submitted directly to the WHO Nomenclature Committee for Factors of the HLA System via the IPD‐IMGT/HLA Database using the sequence submission tool provided (Robinson et al., 2015).
