Repair of damaged DNA is essential for maintaining genomic stability. TP53‐binding protein 1 (53BP1) plays an important role in repair of the DNA double‐strand breaks. Nuclear localisation of 53BP1 depends on importin β and nucleoporin 153, but the type and location of 53BP1 nuclear localisation signal (NLS) have yet to be determined.
