About the PI:
Dr. Hu is trained in the areas of fluorescence microscopy, nanophotonics, and immunology. His research has embarked upon a wide array of novel optical imaging modalities, including surface-plasmon-enhanced elastic and inelastic scattering, optical trapping, absorption-based photothermal imaging, selective-plane illumination (light sheet microscopy), cloud-based deconvolution, and superresolution imaging.
Open positions: Postdoctoral Research Associate
Description:
A postdoctoral research associate position is available in the laboratory of Dr.Ying S. Hu in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Candidates with prior experience in one or more of the following areas are highly encouraged to apply: 1) superresolution imaging, 2) protein chemistry and 3) molecular biology. The successful candidate is expected to develop and apply cutting-edge super-resolution techniques to study receptor-mediated signaling and nano-bio interactions in immune cells while training new graduate students in a young and dynamic research group. With synergistic strengths in the department, the group has a significant interest in investigating membrane nanostructures and their functional relevance in immunity. The laboratory houses the latest Nikon N-STORM 5.0 Super-Resolution System with in-house expertise on super-resolution instrumentation and analysis.
Key Qualifications:
Candidates should hold a Ph.D. in chemistry, biology, or engineering. Highly desirable skills include PALM/STORM superresolution and single-molecule imaging, immunohistochemistry, protein chemistry, and molecular biology. Effective communication skills and a willingness to work with graduate students are highly valued. Located in downtown Chicago, UIC campus offers a truly urban experience.
