The Ngai Lab (http://www.ngaigroup.com ) is moving to the Department of Chemistry at Purdue University in July 2023 and is seeking to recruit talented Postdoc Fellows with a strong background in total synthesis, carbohydrate chemistry, organometallic, and/or reaction design to fill a postdoc position in the Ngai Lab. The focus of the lab is to develop new molecular editing technologies to selectively and efficiently modify organic molecules, carbohydrates, pharmaceuticals, and agrochemicals. Selected candidates will perform highly collaborative scientific research in one or more of the following research programs: (i) Molecular Editing of Carbohydrates; (ii) Molecular Editing via Excited-State/Photoredox Catalysis; and (iii) Molecular Valorization via Fluorine Chemistry.
We combine detailed experimental and computational studies to understand reactivity and mechanisms to guide the design of new catalysts and the development of novel applications in organic, bioorganic, and medicinal chemistry (for selected examples, see: J. Ming-Yu Ngai (魏明宇),美国普渡大学化学系教授。主要研究领域为激发态催化化学,氟化学以及糖化学研究。2003年本科毕业于香港大学化学系,导师为支志明院士/教授和陳偉鍵教授;2002-2003年作为交换生在加州大学圣地亚哥分校学习;2008年博士毕业于德克萨斯大学奥斯汀分校 (University of Texas at Austin),师从Michael J. Krische教授;2009-2011年和2011-2013年分别在斯坦福大学和哈佛大学进行博士后研究,导师分别为Barry M. Trost教授以及Tobias Ritter教授。自2013年加入纽约州立大学石溪分校化学系担任助理教授,2019年获得终身教职,升任副教授。2023年7月任普渡大学化学系教授。自独立开展工作以来,魏教授已经在J. Am. Chem. Soc., Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., Chem. Sci., Chem.
