Positive-parity linear-chain molecular band in 16C

丰中子原子核奇异的链状分子结构多年前已有理论预言,但实验观测十分困难。在16C中,我们通过反应Q值、能级、自旋、特征衰变纲图等多个观测量,完整确认了一条正宇称链状分子转动带,成为这种结构研究的一项重要跨越。


The linear-chain molecular structures in neutron-rich nuclei have been predicted by many theoretical models several decades ago. However, experimental observation of these configurations is very difficult. In our recent letter, we have confirmed, for the first time, a positive-parity linear-chain molecular band in 16C, according to the associated well-resolved Q-values, excitation energies, spin-parity, and selective decay properties. It would be very interesting to further investigate the linear-chain structures in 16C at even higher excitation domain based on our latest results.
