On December 19, 2025, our research group was invited to conduct an exchange with the College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, Tarim University, and held discussions on the Belt and Road international cooperation focusing on solar energy utilization, agriculture and soil improvement in Southern Xinjiang.

During the meeting, the group visited the 359th Brigade Reclamation Memorial Hall in Alaer City, the 1st Division of Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, where they learned about the Corps' history of supporting Xinjiang's development and felt the profound Populus euphratica Spirit.

Founded in October 1958, Tarim University is a co-constructed university by the provincial and ministerial governments, initiated by General Wang Zhen, the then Minister of Land Reclamation. It is located in Alaer City on the banks of the Tarim River in Southern Xinjiang. After over half a century of development, the university has evolved from its humble beginnings with 6 pit dwellings, 5 adobe houses and 500 mu of cultivated land into a modern comprehensive university covering an area of 3,898 mu with a building area of 1.28 million square meters. It ranks 5th in the province.
Adhering to its distinctive school-running philosophy of "Nurturing Talents with the Populus euphratica Spirit and Serving Xinjiang's Stability and Development", Tarim University has blazed a distinctive, leapfrog and sustainable path of development. In terms of discipline construction, the university takes agricultural science as its advantage and life science as its feature, with coordinated development of multiple disciplines including agriculture, science, engineering, medicine, liberal arts, management, economics, law, education, art and history.
