On March 26, 2024, the Jilin Provincial Department of Education officially announced the results of the 2023 Outstanding Doctoral and Master’s Thesis Awards. According to the notice released by the Jilin Provincial Academic Degrees Committee Office, Jilin University had a total of 67 doctoral dissertations, 69 academic master’s theses, and 84 professional master’s theses selected as Outstanding Theses of Jilin Province.

Among the awardees, Mr. Weidong Sun, a 2022 graduate from our research group, was honored with the 2023 Jilin Provincial Excellent Academic Master’s Thesis Award for his thesis titled:
“Structure, Mechanical and Tribological Properties of Cu/B Co-Doped Molybdenum Disulfide Films”

Under the supervision of Professor Kan Zhang, Weidong conducted his master's research from September 2019 to June 2022. During this period, he demonstrated exceptional academic performance, publishing two SCI-indexed papers as the first author and earning eight university-level or higher awards, including the title of Outstanding Graduate of Jilin University.

This award not only reflects Weidong’s outstanding contributions during his graduate studies but also showcases the group’s continued commitment to cultivating high-level talent and advancing cutting-edge research in thin film materials and tribology.
