导语
Introduction应该是一篇论文中最难写的一部分，也是最重要的。“A good introduction will “sell” the study to editors, reviewers, readers, and sometimes even the media.” 。通过Introduction可以判断一篇论文的好坏，因此我们应引起重视，下苦功夫写好每篇论文的introduction。
如何写好introduction？要写好introduction我们首先要知道这部分包括哪些内容。经典的introduction往往都是三段式结构.
背景——目前该领域的研究现状及不足（尚未解决的问题）——本研究的目的。
Introduction是文章的开头，属于正文部分，作为正文的开头，主要介绍所研究课题的研究背景。通过对研究背景和研究问题的详细的介绍，从而引出文献综述部分，只是围绕研究背景展开介绍。
Introduction主要：
1. 描述这个研究主题的背景和重要性
2. 概述这个研究项目的研究现状以及存在的问题，前人提出了哪些观点，做了哪些研究，解决了什么？还有什么待解决……
3. 确定研究该课题的原因，列出研究项目的意义，解释该项目研究价值
4. 简要说明文章结构
Introduction写作要点：
1. 语言要言简意赅，开门见山
2. 内容要围绕课题介绍背景
3. 写作时，和Abstract区分开来
Abstract是对整篇文章包括研究方法、研究结果等的总结，起到概括文章大意、总结全文的作用，不属于正文主要目的是让读者对整篇文章有粗略的概念，吸引读者阅读全文。
而introduction正如第一句话所说，是文章的开头，属于正文部分，主要介绍所研究课题的研究背景，引出文献综述部分。
写作基本原则
（1）简洁明了，逻辑性强，层层递进。
对本领域现在研究状况进行总结时，introduction有别于discussion，在introduction中不需要展开深入讨论、比较。Introduction 的逻辑需要打好提纲，再开始写作，可以极大减少写作的时间。
（2）时态准确：
a. 概述中的研究背景通常会引用相关学科中广为接受的原理或事实，以及你所做研究的重要性，这些通常采用现在时。
例如：Genomics provides crucial information for rational drug design.
b. 在概述中也可能引用与你从事项目相关的一些研究结果，为表达你对该研究结果仍坚信其正确性及相关性，即使已经是很久以前的研究结果，可使用现在时。
例如：Many of the lakes and wetlands in the region are located in craters or valleys blocked by early Pliocene lava flows (Ollier & Joyce, 1964).
Garcia (1993) suggested that under certain conditions, an individual’s deposit income is the same as the income from purchased national debt, thus changes in the amount of bank loans and deposits caused by changes in the amount of reserves will eventually affect the bond price.
c. 需要注意的是如果引用的是一些已经过时或失效的科研结果，动词要使用过去时。
例如：Nineteenth-century physicians held that women got migraines because they were "the weaker sex," but current research shows that the causes of migraine are unrelated to gender. （注意这里从过去时态过渡到现在时态）
写introduction的注意事项：
简洁：对本领域现在研究状况进行总结时，introduction有别于discussion，在introduction中不需要展开深入讨论、比较；
熟悉本领域研究现状：充分掌握该领域的相关研究及研究进展，这是写好introduction的前提；
时态：在描述该领域背景和目前的研究现状时以一般现在时或现在完成时态为主；对于描述本研究的目的时以一般过去时为主；
逻辑性强：本研究的逻辑，为什么要做本研究？这其实是在开始本研究之前就已经设计好了的，因此写好introduction，应该在开始项目之前就下功夫。
Introduction与论文研究的内容有关，没有固定的模板可以套用。这个首先需要对自己所做研究的意义和目的很清晰，另外要对这个领域的研究进展很熟悉，最后再结合自己的英语功底才能写好introduction。
Introduction经典的三段式结构
（1）描述研究主题的背景和重要性
（2）概述研究项目的现状以及存在的问题，具体解释你的研究将如何解决过往文献中的空缺、对该主题考虑不足或文献中的其他缺陷
（3）表明你的研究在理论、经验和/或政策方面具有更广泛的贡献和影响。

Background: Societal relevance
开头的第一点，从介绍你的研究背景开始。
这一部分你首先要思考的是接下来这几个问题：你是怎么开始对你的研究话题产生兴趣的？是与近期/近几年发生的某个引人注目/重要的事件相关吗（比如疫情、或者黑人平权运动BLM）？或者是与你观察到的某个有趣/引人思考的现象相关（比如，新媒体营销越来越火热）？有什么比较能体现问题/吸引眼球的数据？
如何写这一部分的具体步骤：开头首先用一句概括的话来引出话题，然后简单描述事件/现象，或者摆出数据。然后用一句话点出‘问题’，再用多句话来解释‘问题’，可以是举例子，也可以是用更具体的语言来进一步阐述。
Academic relevance
关于这一点，国内本科（非985）好像要求不高，尤其是在本科论文字数比较少、研究比较浅的情况下。我们当年这一部分都是直接放到文献综述里，且要求真的很低，大概有点那个意思儿就好的那种……到了硕士我才真正开始学怎么写这一部分。所以，对于毕业论文要求不高的同学而言，你可以跳过这部分，因为如果你本科本身没正儿八经地写过论文的话，理解起来也可能会比较困难。对本科论文要求高或者写硕士论文的小朋友这一部分要好好看好好品品！！！
下面正题：
首先问自己，你写的这个研究topic是属于什么研究领域的？是什么大话题下分支出来的？这里要写出这个领域前人已经研究了些什么，他们的研究具体集中在哪些方面，然后点出还有哪些方面是前人还没研究到的、或者是研究地不够彻底的。
也可以看看前学者们的研究成果有没有出现对立观点，如果有，写出他们debate的内容，然后你可以写你的研究将为这个debate做出贡献。举例一个我硕士读文献时看过的一个debate：一方是持着运动手表增加了人们主动来选择锻炼的积极性，因为他们可以主动设目标，另一方说运动手表操控人们去运动，因为人们迫于数据的压力而不得不运动。
还有一种比较常见的就是，when new data or events change the ball game. 很接地气的一个例子就是，以前上网课通常都是为了满足兴趣或者课后补课，现在一场疫情袭来，上网课成了norm，所以在这种情况下，网课的意义就需要被重新讨论。
最后一种情况是，某几个领域/观点/理论可以被结合在一起讨论，或者结合在一起去理解某一现象，然而前人还没有将它们联系到一起过。这种是比较高阶的写法，我只在读大佬develop new theories时见过。

将societal和academic的significance写清楚之后，research gap就自然而然被点出。
