Weian Zhang is a full professor for polymer science at East China University of Science and Technology, Shanghai. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Science and Technology of China in 2003. After he worked at the Shanghai Jiao Tong University as an Assistant Professor for three years (2004-2007), he moved to the University of Bayreuth in Germany to do two-year research (2008-2010) as a Humboldt Fellow with the host Prof. Axel H. E. Müller, and he also worked in School of Chemistry at the University of Leeds in UK as a Marie Curie Fellow for two years (2011-2012). In 2017, he visited the University of Mainz and Max Plank Institute of Polymer (MPIP) as a Humboldt visiting professor with host Prof. Rudolf Zentel and Prof. Axel H. E. Müller. He has established his independent research group at ECUST in 2013, and now his group research interests mainly focus on the construction of functional biomaterials and their application in biological fields including tissue engineering and drug release system. Prof. Weian Zhang has published ca. 140 papers in polymer, material and biological journals.
