Yi Shi joined Professor Maolin Li's research team at the College of Chemistry and the Frontiers Science Center for New Organic Matter, Nankai University, in July 2025 to pursue his Ph.D. studies. In June 2022, He obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Bioengineering from Yantai University. In June 2025, he completed his Master’s degree in Pharmaceutical Engineering under the supervision of Researcher Mingdong Yao at Tianjin University, focusing on the heterologous production of natural terpenoids in microbial cell factories by metabolic engineering and synthetic biology approaches. His current research aims to expand biosynthesis beyond the boundaries of natural reactivity, developing novel enzymatic reactions and integrating them into in vivo biosynthetic pathways for efficient production of non-natural high-value compounds.
