Under the supervision of Mr Lu Hailin, the first year master's student of the research group, Yang Verhoeven, has published a paper as the first author in a Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) Zone III journal. In this study, microstructural analyses and tests of abrasion and corrosion resistance of the coatings prepared at different voltages showed that the coatings did not form a complete nanoporous structure, with lower coating thicknesses and weaker performance at 120 V and 180 V. In addition, the coating thicknesses of the coatings at 240 V and 300 V were lower than those of the coatings at 120 V. In contrast, the coatings prepared at 240, 300, and 360 V showed a complete nanoporous structure and higher thickness, and the content of soft Al2O3 particles on the coating surface gradually increased with increasing voltage. It is noteworthy that the 240 V specimen showed the best abrasion and corrosion resistance.
