Dr. Liu, is currently a professor of Hunan Normal University. He received the B.Sc., M.Sc., and D.Phil. degrees in chemistry from Hunan Normal University, Changsha, China, in 2007, 2010 and 2017. From 2015 to 2016, he studied at the University of South Mississippi as a joint Ph.D. student. He was a visiting scholar of chemical engineering at the National University of Singapore from 2022 to 2023.

Professor Liu is the Member of the Chinese Chemical Society and the Chemical Industry and Engineering Society of China. He has been the Director of Hunan Society of Chemistry and Chemical Industry in 2018. He is the Young Scientists Committee Member of Advanced Powder Materials. His research interests include the catalytic conversion of biomass to fine chemicals and liquid fuels, the catalytic oxidation of bio-based furan derivatives, and the green catalytic hydrogenation process. He has presided over 20 projects including the National Natural Science Foundation of China and the Natural Science Foundation of Hunan Province. He has published over 120 research papers in peer-referred journals.
