Professor Sun Zhenyu was invited to attend the Fourth Hebei Province Chemical Thermodynamics and Thermal Analysis Academic Conference, organized by the Beijing–Tianjin–Hebei Thermal Analysis Technology Summit Forum. The conference brought together leading scholars and experts to discuss recent advancements and research trends in the fields of chemical thermodynamics, catalysis, and thermal analysis.

During the conference, Professor Sun delivered a special report entitled “Regulation of Surface *N₂/H Adsorption to Enhance Electrochemical Nitrogen Reduction for Ammonia Synthesis.” His presentation focused on the mechanistic understanding and surface engineering strategies that improve the catalytic activity and selectivity of materials for electrocatalytic nitrogen reduction reaction (NRR), a sustainable route for ammonia synthesis under mild conditions.

The report highlighted how adsorption regulation of nitrogen and hydrogen intermediates on catalyst surfaces can effectively tune reaction pathways, reduce overpotential, and promote ammonia yield. Professor Sun also shared recent progress from his research group at Beijing University of Chemical Technology (BUCT) on developing highly efficient catalytic materials for energy conversion and storage applications.

Professor Sun’s insightful presentation sparked active discussion among attending scholars and industry experts, further strengthening academic exchange and collaboration in the field of electrocatalysis and thermal chemistry.
