Cell Biology and Toxicology (CBT) is an international journal focused on clinical and translational research with an emphasis on molecular and cell biology, genetic and epigenetic heterogeneity, drug discovery and development, and molecular pharmacology and toxicology. CBT has a disease-specific scope prioritizing publications on gene and protein-based regulation, intracellular signaling pathway dysfunction, cell type-specific function, and systems in biomedicine in drug discovery and development. CBT publishes original articles with outstanding, innovative and significant findings, important reviews on recent research advances and issues of high current interest, opinion articles of leading edge science, and rapid communication or reports, on molecular mechanisms and therapies in diseases.

SUBJECTS COVERED:

1. Gene and protein-based regulations in diseases

CBT welcomes submissions in the fields of genomics and proteomic, functional genomics and proteomics, computational biology, and gene expression and function. CBT particularly includes aspects of the multifactorial genetics and epigenetics of diseases, disease-specific biomarkers, developmental biology, systems biology and bioinformatics-based data mining approaches with translational potentials.

2. Molecular pharmacology and toxicology

CBT specially focuses on drug target identification and validation, rational drug design, genetic/small molecule (high-throughput) screening, novel therapeutic approaches, combinatorial and parallel synthesis of drugs, pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics, pharmacogenomics and toxicogenomics.

3. Pathological mechanisms related with intracellular organelles and cells

CBT publishes novel findings on membrane biology and domains, and the associated receptor and non-receptor mediated signaling and transport proteins of the cell membrane, mitochondria, the endoplasmic reticulum, Golgi apparatus, and other organelles in health and disease. On the cellular and organism level, CBT aims to understanding cancer development, maintenance and treatment resistance, immune and inflammatory cell function, neuroscience, stem cell development and differentiation, epithelial biology and endothelial barrier function.

4. Biomedical aspects of organ systems in diseases

CBT primarily publishes studies on the immune system, central and autonomic nervous systems, gastrointestinal system, cardiovascular and circulatory system, endocrine system, and pulmonary system, skeletal and muscular system, and urinary system to understand deeper about pathogeneses and therapies.
