Special issue information:

South Korea will host the APEC summit meeting in 2025. Taking advantage of this opportunity, the Asia Economic Community Forum is planning to strengthen research on APEC.

It should be noted that APEC is the only economic cooperation body where US and China participate together as regular members. In this era of the US-China strategic competition, we want to reinvigorate the roles of APEC in terms of compromising and negotiating space. The US has launched new regional initiatives such as IPEF and Quad excluding China, and the US does not participate in RCEP and CPTPP. Moreover, the theme of the Asia Economic Community Forum 2023 is “Asian Economic Community in the Era of US-China strategic competition: APEC or IPEF?”

We welcome both conceptual contributions as well as analytical research on these issues for this Special Issue. All accepted articles will be waivered APC.
