Recent advances in the Pd(II)-catalyzed asymmetric addition of arylboronic acids to electron-deficient olefins

Palladium is a relatively inexpensive transition metal when compared with rhodium, and is thus more attractive for industrial applications. However, the development of Pd(II) catalyst systems for the asymmetric addition of arylboronic acids to electron-deficient olefins was not as widely developed as Rh(I) catalytic systems until recent years. Several new and efficient Pd(II) catalyst systems have been developed in this decade, enabling the asymmetric additions of arylboronic acids to different types of substrates. This brief review summarizes and discusses recent works related to the Pd(II)-catalyzed asymmetric addition of arylboronic acids to electron-deficient olefins.
