Two for one: A sol–gel process is applied for the co‐immobilization of whole cells of E. coli with C. violaceum ω‐transaminase activity and L. elongisporus with ketoreductase activity by entrapment by using silica microspheres as a supporting additive. The produced biocatalyst is used in the synthesis of enantiomerically pure amines and alcohols from racemic 4‐phenylbutan‐2‐amine and heptan‐2‐amine in a continuous‐flow mode.
