An organocatalytic domino process was developed towards elusive heterocyclic compounds that is based on the use of carbon dioxide and epoxy alcohols as reagents. In their Communication (DOI: 10.1002/anie.201803967), A. W. Kleij and co‐workers report a process reminiscent of the well‐known Payne rearrangement of epoxides. Highly substituted epoxy alcohols first undergo substrate‐controlled CO2 activation, thereby forming a cyclic carbonate; this is followed by in situ base‐mediated carbonate isomerization and trapping of the desired product.
