Correcting assumptions: The synthesis, isolation and characterisation of the sulfur metabolic compound 3‐mercaptopyruvic acid is reported. Detailed kinetic, thermodynamic and spectroscopic studies of its complex behaviour in solution are discussed, with respect to previously reported structures.
