The planar tetracyclic tristriazolotriazines are a new group of mesogens for discotic liquid crystals. Their Synthesis, chemical properties, structures of molecules and mesophases, optical and thermal characteristics are reported. The thermal rearrangement converts paddle‐wheel type tristriazolotriazines to those with a propeller shape.
