Lerman et al1 report the increased presence of noncalcified coronary plaques and high-risk plaques in patients with psoriasis in comparison with healthy volunteers and a separately and previously included older at-risk population of hyperlipidemic patients. They concluded that modulation of skin inflammation was associated with a reduced coronary plaque burden.


These findings corroborate previous studies showing increased prevalence of coronary artery disease in patients with psoriasis2 and reduced coronary artery disease progression in patients with psoriasis treated with biological agents.3 The results of Lerman et al are in line with a previous report of reduced progression of noncalcified coronary vessel wall volume in patients with psoriasis treated with biological agents.3 However, these studies were performed in patients …
