Active duty: An activatable fluorescent probe consisting of a peptide, Arg‐Val‐Arg‐Arg (RVRR), and an aminoluciferin fluorophore is designed and prepared for the responsive and activatable detection of furin activity in living cells. This probe is shown to have “off–on” florescence properties, and in the presence of furin in vitro, its fluorescence intensity is increased by a factor of ≈3.58.
