Fluorine‐Mediated Editing of a G‐Quadruplex Folding Pathway

The incorporation of one anti‐favoring 2′‐fluoro‐modified guanosine into the central tetrad of a (3+1)‐hybrid‐type G‐quadruplex leads to a remarkable inversion of a single G‐tract associated with a transition from a propeller loop into a lateral loop. These topological rearrangements are in line with a kinetic partitioning mechanism for quadruplex folding.
