A one‐pot route to synthesize pyridylbenzamides has been developed via vanadium‐catalyzed C(CO)−C(CO) bond cleavage of 1,2‐diketones with 2‐aminopyridines, N→N′ aroyl migration, and hydrolysis of in situ generated 2‐(diaroylamino) pyridines. This method offers a simple, neutral, and practical approach to access various medicinally important pyridylbenzamides under base‐, additive‐ and external oxidant‐free conditions.
