The nitrosotetrazolium‐catalyzed aerobic oxidation of alcohols is reported. By using catalytic amounts of nitrosotetrazolium species 1 and nitric acid, various alcohols were oxidized to the corresponding carbonyl compounds under ambient air or oxygen conditions. A mechanism involving a nitroso/NO_x catalytic cycle is proposed.
