Michael addition reactions play a major role in the establishment of carbon–carbon and carbon–heteroatom bonds. Non‐catalytic as well as catalytic methodologies are well known for these reactions. Zinc catalysis in the Michael addition has achieved great importance due to the broad substrate scope, mild reaction conditions, and excellent reactivity and selectivity, along with the availability of a variety of useful chiral ligands. As an inexpensive, abundant and less toxic metal, zinc occupies an important position in green chemistry for organic synthesis. Herein, the significant advances in zinc‐catalysed Michael addition reactions that follow an enolate pathway are discussed, and this Focus Review covers the literature from 2001 to 2017.
