A variety of binary intermetallic phases was synthesized with the microwave-assisted polyol process. This opens up the possibility to obtain phase-pure nanocrystalline powders in a fast and easily applicable one-step approach. Ethylene glycol was used as both solvent and reducing agent. The utilization of strong and often toxic reducing agents is not necessary.
