Protection strategies: Recent biochemical and genomics data suggest that UV photoproducts and cisplatin adducts are more mutagenic when they occur at transcription factor binding sites (TFBSs) or dense nucleosomal regions because DNA-bound proteins shield the lesions from the nucleotide excision repair system.
