We have demonstrated a simple, low cost and swift method to prepare vertically aligned hexagonal MoO₃ nanorods on substrates using microwave irradiation. Most interestingly, the hexagonal rods can be converted to layered α-MoO₃ keeping the vertical alignment intact.
