Ferulic acid (FA) is an ubiquitous phenolic plant constituent that exhibits a wide range of therapeutic effects against cancer, diabetes, cardiovascular and neurodegenerative diseases, on account of its potent antioxidant capacity. The present review summarizes the most recent literature on FA including our current knowledge of its pharmacological actions, pre-clinical and clinical studies, reported mechanisms of actions and pharmacokinetic profile.
