Abstract In this Reply we demonstrate that the nano domains reported in our paper commented by D. Banerjee cannot be the artifacts induced by hydrogen absorption from electropolishing, as assumed by D. Banerjee. The effects of two different TEM sample preparation methods (ion milling and electropholishing) were verified and compared with some results in the literature. The formation of the interface α domains in Ti-7333 in our published work has the same origin as the secondary α domains formed on the existing α in Ti-6Al-4V predicted by the 3D phase field simulations by R. Shi and Y. Z. Wang.
