A Minireview highlights the unique properties of ABX3 perovskite-type materials where at least one ion is replaced with a molecular building unit. The authors focus in particular on phenomena related to low energy lattice modes that tie the molecular building-units to the fascinating properties observed in molecular perovskites.

2. A highly sensitive graphene woven fabric strain sensor for wearable wireless musical instruments

Scientists from Hong Kong have developed highly flexible and sensitive strain sensors that are essential components of wearable electronic devices. A wireless wearable musical instrument prototype made of the composite sensor demonstrates conversion of human motions to music of different instruments and sounds.

3. Solution-processed 2-dimensional hole-doped ionic graphene compounds

Scientists from Singapore describe the synthesis of new multi-layered graphene–fluorofullerene assemblies. These materials provide the first examples of a novel domain of doped 2D assemblies where large ions are incorporated through room-temperature solution processing, which opens new opportunities beyond van der Waals semiconductor heterostructures.

1. Hyper-crosslinked β-cyclodextrin porous polymer: an adsorption-facilitated molecular catalyst support for transformation of water-soluble aromatic molecules

Scientists in Shanghai and Tennessee (USA) have developed a new method for the synthesis of water-insoluble cyclodextrin polymers that are highly porous and thermally stable. The hyper-crosslinked porous polymer exhibited a high efficiency for the adsorption of aromatic molecules from water, and could be further functionalized by incorporating gold nanoparticles for catalytic transformation of adsorbed phenolic compounds.


一个中美科学家团队开发了一种合成具有高度多孔和热稳定性的非水溶性环糊精聚合物的新方法。这种超交联的多孔聚合物可以高效地从水中吸附芳香族分子,并可以通过引入金纳米颗粒进一步功能化,可对所吸附的酚类化合物进行催化转化。

2. Water-enhanced oxidation of graphite to graphene oxide with controlled species of oxygenated groups

Researchers at Tsinghua University have developed a water-addition modified Hummers method to prepare graphene oxide sheets with controllable amounts of hydroxyl and epoxide groups, without diminishing their structural integrity. The simple and efficient method also improved the yields of synthesizing high-quality graphene oxide sheets at low temperatures.


清华大学的研究人员开发了一种加水改进的Hummers法来制备拥有可控数量羟基和环氧基团的氧化石墨烯薄片,并且不会破坏其结构的完整性。这种简单高效的方法能提高在低温下合成高质量氧化石墨烯薄片的产率。
