About 1 in 10 or nearly 12.9 million infants around the world received no vaccinations in 2016, according to a recent report from the World Health Organization and United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF). The report, “Progress and Challenges With Achieving Universal Immunization Coverage: 2016 Estimates of Immunization Coverage,” focused primarily on the diphtheria-tetanus-pertussis (DTP) vaccine, which has protected children since 1949.
