The front cover picture, provided by Kicheol Kim, illustrates the development of a ruthenium catalytic system for acyl cyanide synthesis via acceptorless dehydrogenation of cyanohydrins. As opposed to the thermodynamically preferred elimination of hydrogen cyanide, the dehydrogenation of cyanohydrins could be kinetically controlled with ruthenium(II) bidentate phosphine complexes. Effects of ligands and counter anions in the ruthenium catalyst were investigated to modulate catalytic activity and selectivity. Details can be found in the communication on pages 3292–3298 (K.
