An atom-economical method for the synthesis of selenides from arylhydrazines and stoichiometric amounts of diselenides is explored; the protocol is performed under mild conditions, in air, and with a cheap base. Furthermore, it is environmentally friendly and low costing. This new and facile selenide synthesis affords unsymmetrical diaryl selenides in good yields.
